SAVE Dade Action PAC endorses Walters, Alvero, Davis for Miami Shores Village Council elections

Miami Shores, Florida – After a comprehensive endorsement process, the SAVE Dade Action PAC is proud to endorse Jesse Walters, Angela Maria Alvero, and Robert “Hunt” Davis for the Miami Shores Village Council elections.

“Miami Shores has a diverse community with a significant number of residents who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender,” said C.J. Ortuno executive director of the SAVE Dade Action PAC. “That’s why it’s so important for us to endorse Miami Shores’ candidates who support equality for their LGBT constituents.”

"We have nearly 1200 members in Miami Shores and consider it one of the most gay-friendly cities in Miami-Dade County, " he added. Robert “Hunt” Davis received the SAVE Dade Action PAC endorsement in his last bid for the Village office, since he supports equality and cited direct experiences with gay and lesbian family members.

Angela Maria Alvero, a lawyer and small business owner, is willing to sponsor a Domestic Partnership Ordinance for Miami Shores Village. The ordinance would allow Village employees who are unmarried to designate their domestic partner as a recipient of their employee health insurance benefits. For this reason, along with her supportive answers in her endorsement questionnaire, she has earned the SAVE Dade Action PAC endorsement.

Jesse Walters is an openly gay candidate who has been active in the LGBT community for a number of years. As a small business owner, a father, and committed partner for 23 years, Jesse is one of the most viable and electable candidates SAVE Dade has endorsed.

In his endorsement questionnaire, Mr. Walters emphasized that all residents of Miami Shores be treated fairly and equitably. He also included how he might assist in gaining protections for LGBT people outside of Miami Shores. If elected, Mr. Walters would become only the fourth openly gay elected official in Miami-Dade County.

SAVE Dade plans to assist Mr. Walter’s campaign by organizing volunteers and distributing campaign literature throughout Miami Shores. “We’ve had the rare opportunity to endorse and support two viable openly gay candidates this month and we feel that Jesse has the best qualifications to be a Miami Shores Councilperson or even the Mayor,” said CJ Ortuno, executive director of SAVE Dade Action PAC.
